Cargo! The Quest For Gravity Wiki

Flawkes is the main character of Cargo! The Quest For Gravity. She is a mechanic and co-pilot of Captain Borkin's cargo ship, the Hippo. She is often blamed for circumstances outside of her control, often to a comedic point.

Personality[]

Flawkes is a quiet woman who seems to only speak when she chooses to. While others around her, such as Captain Borkin and the Demiurges, insult her capabilities and her enthusiasm, Flawkes seems to have little to say to them, likely ignoring them to remain focussed. She is a diligent worker, and exceptionally talented in building Vehicles. She is a skilled aircraft pilot, driver, sailor, and submarine operator. She maintains a rapport with Devil during the final arc of the game, likely as it is one of the few figures that does not lead a conversation with an insult.

She seems to have an affection for the Buddies, though perhaps it is plain amusement, given how she has no problem kicking them around and watching them tip over.

Appearance[]

Flawkes has very short, scruffy red hair, that occasionally has a purple shine. She has light skin and green eyes. Her outfit of choice is a blue and white striped tank top, with reddish orange khakis held up by suspenders. and patched by large green fabric squares. Her work gloves are strapped with various tools, such as scissors and hooks, and she has a compass armband strapped to her left arm. She wears bright yellow and orange chunky boots up to her knees, with steel plating on the toes. One boot seems to be made of leather, while the other is reinforced. Mechanic tools are stuffed inside her boots.

Flawkes has two tattoos on her back. One is a barcode on her neck, and the other is a gear on her right shoulder, the same as the Cargo! The Quest For Gravity logo.

Plot[]

Autumn[]

Flawkes is first seen piloting the Hippo into the archipelago. She attempts to maneuver a landing, but a stray firework (powered by a celebrating Buddy causes the Hippo to crash into the water. She climbs on to a broken bridge littered with cargo, and soon meets The Band, who welcome her to the archipelago.

Summer[]

After the successful melting of the remaining ice, the Demiurges attempt to dissuade Flawkes from continuing her restoration of the planet. She brings the Earth's axix down from the sky, and proceeds to create a wind circulation system to get it spinning. After several white-hot comerts fall from the sky, she flies a helicopter over the boiling sea water, creating tornadoes. These tornadoes drag several floating pieces of earth into the accelerator, and cause the Earth's axis to spin.

Depending on how many Buddies died throughout the story, one of two endings may occur.

Gravity Ending: Flawkes restores the Earth's axis, and begins turning the planet once more. Gravity begins to return to the planet, and the Demiurges lose their power and collapse off their rails and to the ground. Flawkes and Borkin leave the Buddies to celebrate as they fly back to the Mainland, where Flawkes will receive her diploma.

FUN Ending: Manipu reveals that he was waiting for Flawkes to complete her tasks, and turns her, Borkin, and the Buddies into FUN. (missing information on this one)

Notes[]

  • Flawkes' voice actress is the same in both English and German.
  • Flawkes seems to have numerous names both in and out of the game. At times, she has been referred to as "Fawkes", as well as "Phlox". It is unclear if this is due to translation errors or different sources using her name from different points in development.
  • Flawkes is the only woman in the game, as Buddies and the Demiurges are otherwise genderless, if masculine in presentation.
  • Flawkes will often mutter to herself throughout the game, usually while kicking Buddies.
